Using headers on a dockable

Dockables are normally soldered directly to their host PCB, but socket/header strips can be used if the dockable is expected to be removed frequently, for example when testing a new design.

As can be seen in the above images header strips are soldered onto the castellated connections on the dockable, and socket strips are soldered onto the host PCB. Typically a couple of QUUB main boards would be set aside for debugging new hardware and these boards would have the socket strips installed, QUUBs that are depolyed to the field would not, their dockables would be soldered directly onto the board.
